Our WOLVES MR3 ALPHAS showed tremendous improvement from their previous match in an impressive effort considering they had no substitutes available.

The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 for most of the night, with both teams battling hard. Unfortunately, fatigue set in during the final three minutes, and our opposition capitalized with two late goals to secure a 3-1 victory.

Despite the tough ending, this scoreline didn’t reflect the heart and effort of our team.

On a night filled with “firsts,” our other WOLVES MR3 squad captured their first victory of the young season, and they did it without their regular keeper.

Our boys came out flying and set the tone from the opening whistle, pushing hard all game long. Dean H. led the charge offensively with multiple goals in a standout performance.

Adding to the magic of the night, it was also the team’s first game in their new @dwibee_jerseys — and they certainly made it memorable!

Our Westboro Wolves MR5 took on Ottawa International Jaguars in a tough, physical MR5 matchup.

The first half was highly competitive, with both sides battling hard and neither team giving much away. We were awarded a penalty midway through the half, but the Jaguars goalkeeper produced a strong save to deny Scot Melvin from the spot.

Our Wolves kept pressing, and their keeper continued to keep his side in this game. It continued to be a physical contest throughout, with every ball contested and neither team backing down.

Despite our pressure, the Jaguars struck first and took a 1–0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Westboro continued to push forward but were punished by two unfortunate goals, handing the Jaguars to extend their lead to 3–0. Credit to our Wolves as our response was excellent. Our Ethan Lundquist pulled one back before Scott Melvin struck soon after to make it 3–2 and set up a tense finish.

We pushed hard for the equalizer in the closing stages, but the Jaguars held on to secure a narrow 3–2 win.

Plenty to build on and a strong response from the Wolves when the game looked out of reach.

Game day is always the highlight of our week, but mother nature had other plans for this one. A relentless wind made clean play incredibly difficult right from the kickoff. Despite the conditions, we started strong, putting together some beautiful give-and-go sequences throughout most of the first half.

The opposition managed to draw first blood with two quick goals, but we refused to head into the break empty-handed, fighting back to make it 2-1 just before halftime.

Unfortunately, the combination of brutal winds and muscle fatigue caught up to us in the second half. While we stayed competitive for the majority of the match, we ultimately conceded a few more goals.

This gave our attacking midfielders time to create good plays. Curtis, Luca, Grant, Chris A., Andrew L. and Ali were taking shots on goals or passing the ball to our forwards Mahdi, Jamie and Ada. In one of these plays, Ada scored his third goal of the match. Shortly after, the Ottawa Bears Yellow scored again, making it 3-2. However, we kept our composure, and Andrew A. scored the fourth goal for our squad. With 10 minutes to go, Ali scored our fifth goal with a free kick.

The final score of the game was a 5-2 victory for your OT5 Wolves. We want to thank the Ottawa Bears Yellow and his manager, Galvin, for hosting us. We look forward to welcoming you later in the season.

We will play our next game at home against the FC Gatineau Brothers. It will be a tough but enjoyable game.

Judging from the cards handed out in this game, this appeared to be a feisty affair that resulted in our Wolves edging Arnprior by one goal!

Fresh off the heels of their first historic win in MOT3 against the experienced Arnprior
United, a match that saw our Wolves bite, scratch and pounce to a well-earned victory,
the focus for the second match would be whether those same qualities would appear
against the well-seasoned Ottawa Bears, a team known for its ferocity! The match-up
had all the potential for a future rivalry, the Battle for the Forest. Wolves versus Bears!

The match would be played under late Fall-like weather conditions with players on both
sides wanting to spend more time on the sideline wrapped in a blanket rather than
running around on the very wide pitch. It was a match that would test the Wolves once again.
After all, last week the game was won with 10 players (and which saw John Maggiore
take to the BBQ and begin grilling while his teammates fought to preserve the win). In
addition being a player-down, the other lingering question was whether the back-up
goalkeeper (Rocco Caminiti) who had not started in over 3 years, playing behind
MOT4’s golden glove winner, Domenico Pecora, would have the mental fortitude to help
his side earn a second win after facing a barrage of shots in the first game. Only time
would tell if Rocco had the right-stuff, but after 90 minutes of play against the Ottawa
Bears, Rocco would go on to play another great game and make the save of the match
late in the game with a kick-save that was certain to go into the right-hand corner of net.
This would then be followed by a missed penalty shot by the Bears. When Rocco was
asked about the save, he simply acknowledged that he pulled out his Mike Palmateer
(Leafs’ legendary goaltender) kick save to keep a second clean sheet and now creating
a goalkeeper situation between Domenico and himself.
The first half of the match our team struggled to find their form, but as the match
evolved, so did the creation of more scoring opportunities which unfortunately only saw
one goal and plenty of missed chances from ever-increasing scoring chances. Marco B.
and Kevin W. were providing the necessary rhythm from the center midfield helping both
the strikers and defenders. The enthusiasm was building going into the second half, but
clearly more was needed to secure three points.
A half-time break that saw the Wolves’ Manager, Charles Vincent, leaning into his
teammates, asking for more hunger, and above all, a better finish. His tone was firm
and absent from any emotion. The approach certainly worked as the Wolves would go
onto scoring 5 goals throughout the half, and see our Wolves play more like a team.
Neil H. would be running towards the opposing goal, while Jason O. would be running back
against the opposing team to block any scoring chances. Roberto S. would stumble and
fall from time to time, and Dino D. felt better as a defender (it's his dream position). Even Jefferson D. tried to get into the
scoring column by dropping and rolling in the opposing goalie’s area. Unfortunately,
penalty shots were not easy to earn from the referee. As the match continued, the
Wolves were playing better together and had more fun. Scoring 5 more goals in the
second-half certainly helped in allowing the team to feel a bit looser.

Our newly signed player, Ami B., struggled to stay focused as his beloved Montreal
Canadiens were set to play after the match. In addition, Ami was trying to avoid doing
any dental work on the side as some players were getting accidentally hit in the mouth.
While he felt that no dental work could be performed without the proper tools, he would
be reminded that Gerry V. had a truck full of tools, from chisels, to screwdrivers, and a
power drill if needed.
Following the match, both Ami (Club sponsor) and Gerry (our team sponsor) were recognized for their generosity in
sponsoring our Westboro Wolves. Their generosity has allowed the Westboro Wolves
to update their uniforms.
After 90 minutes of play, the Westboro Wolves defeated the Ottawa Bears by a score of
6-0!
Following the match, the team gathered for some pizza and discussed the game, the
freezing weather, and life.

Game Played May 31-26

In Week 2, WW Homa MC4 faced OISC and delivered a dominant 9-1 victory in front of their home supporters.

WW Homa started the match with an aggressive attacking strategy, controlling the pace of the game early and finishing the first half with a strong 3-1 lead.

In the second half, WW Homa rotated the squad effectively while maintaining high intensity. As OISC began to tire, WW Homa increased the pressure and capitalized on their opportunities, adding another six goals to complete an impressive performance.
