A Step Forward!

By: Jahleel B., Team Manager
Game played: Monday, July 21st, 2025

Despite another loss, we see it as a big step forward for our Wolves! Progress is not always measured by the scoreboard. Our Mark Oueis really came through when it mattered—breaking our goalless streak with two goals that lifted our whole team’s spirits.

With that kind of grit and momentum building, a win feels closer than ever. They say persistence is everything and to keep believing—it is only a matter of time before our efforts pay off! 🐺⚽💪

Wolves Homa MR4 – The Unstoppable Force!

By: Omid M., Team Manager
Game played: Monday, July 21st, 2025

In Week 9 of the MR2 League, our Wolves Homa faced off against Falcons — their closest rival in the standings. The three points up for grabs in this crucial match had major implications for the season’s title race.

The game kicked off with high intensity. In the third minute, a brilliant run down the right wing by Vahid Farhadi and his precise cross was met by Mohammad Dehghan, who slotted the ball home to give Homa an early lead. Our Wolves Homa maintained full control of this match and continued pressing forward until the referee, in two highly controversial moments, awarded back-to-back penalties to Falcons. They converted both and went into halftime leading 2–1.

Unwilling to accept defeat, our Wolves Homa returned to the pitch with fierce determination in the second half. Our Amirhossein Amnezadeh pounced on a rebound to level the match. The Falcons, now sitting deep in defense, tried to block every route to goal — but a stunning burst from Mohammad Dehghan down the left flank and a clever cutback found Mostafa Taherian, who calmly placed the ball into the net for our Wolves Homa’s winning goal.

With this hard-fought victory and another crucial three points, the Wolves Homa solidified their position at the top of the table and continued their dominant path toward the championship.

Our ‘Player of the Game‘ was Mehdi Tolaei, Homa’s young and skillful new signing. His standout performance was a key factor in the team’s success and has made him an essential player this season.

Second Half Effort, Not Enough!

By: Antonino Z., Team Manager
Game played: Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025

Well … we were due for a game like this, right? With players away and injuries depleting our roster, combined with a sluggish first half, we found ourselves in unfamiliar territory—down 2–0 at the break. Truthfully, it could have been more if not for a brilliant penalty save from our keeper, Anthony W., who stood tall when we needed him most.

Our opponents moved the ball with purpose and pressed aggressively, taking away our time and space—a style we are usually known for, but one that eluded us early on. At halftime, we refocused and spoke about playing with greater urgency. Credit to our team—we came out stronger, moved the ball a lot better, and created quality scoring chances.

Their keeper came up big with multiple point-blank saves, and their defense did well to clear their lines. But we kept pressing. Unfortunately, a second phantom penalty call took the wind out of our sails, and despite the improved effort, we just could not find a way back into this match.

We’ll take the lessons from this one and turn the page quickly. Next week presents us with another big test as we face the Hornets on their home field. We’ll need to rise to the occasion if we want to keep pushing forward, shake off this sting and regain the division lead.

Despite the final result, our keeper Anthony kept us close until late in this game with his impressive play, earning him our ‘Player of the Game‘.

Anthony C. and Carlo Z. are TOP 3 in our division’s scoring leaders!

A penalty kick in the second half gave us the lead once again, but the Wolves Homa’s persistence paid off in the 20th minute of extra time when they were awarded a penalty of their own. The match ended shortly after, with both teams walking away with a point.

Our scorers were Q.V. and Leorent P., who continued his impressive scoring streak.

Teammates Murat V. and Yiber H.

Ylber H. was unstoppable on the field, earning our ‘Player of the Game‘ honours with his lockdown defense. Even though we bid him farewell as he departed to return home, he has left his mark.

Wolves Edge Ottawa Falcons!

By: Gabe F., Team Manager
Game played: Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025

Our Westboro Wolves continued their incredible season in a hard-fought clash, securing a crucial 1-0 victory over the Ottawa Falcons! This gritty win keeps us firmly in first place in the league standings!

It was a truly tough match against a resilient Falcons side. The first half was a tense affair, with both teams battling hard, resulting in a 0-0 scoreline at the break. Neither side was giving an inch, and chances were at a premium.

The deadlock was finally broken in the dying minutes of the game. With just 10 minutes left on the clock, the Falcons conceded a penalty! Up stepped our reliable penalty specialist, Bren Walker, who calmly slotted the ball home to give us the breakthrough and the lead!

Our defense was rock solid throughout the entire match, and a massive shout-out goes to our goalkeeper, Matthew Hajjar, who earned yet another impressive clean sheet. His composure and leadership at the back were vital in securing the shutout.

This was a massive win against a strong opponent, proving that our Wolves are ready to fight for every point to maintain our top spot!

Wolves Homa Extend Unbeaten Streak!

By: Kamyar T., Team Manager
Game played: Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025

Our Wolves Homa continued their strong form in Week 9 of OCSL play, earning a 2–2 draw in an exciting and high-tempo encounter played under tough weather conditions. The match featured sharp attacking play, creative combinations, and a dramatic finish.

Despite conceding an early goal, Wolves Homa responded with confidence. A clever link-up between Mohammad Dehghan and Mohsen Haghighat-Pasand led to the equalizer, as Haghighat-Pasand calmly slotted the ball into the net. The team’s attacking momentum paid off just before halftime.

The second half presented additional challenges due to intense sunlight affecting visibility. The opponents capitalized on the moment and won a penalty, which they converted to regain the lead. But our Wolves Homa kept their composure and continued pressing forward. Our efforts were rewarded when a penalty kick was given in the last minute and Wolves Homa successfully converted to tie the game.

Elman Safaei was named our ‘Player of the Game‘ for his composed and commanding performance throughout the game.

Team Spirit On Full Display!

By: Salvador H. C., Team Assistant Manager
Game played: Friday, July 25th, 2025

On Friday, July 25, our OT5 Westboro Wolves faced the Gloucester Eagles on their home field.

Just 10 minutes in, both teams settled in their formation, creating good plays but without creating any clear scoring opportunities. Our team attacked well, but on two occasions, the crossbars denied us a goal. The Eagles played long balls to their forwards, forcing our defensive line and our center midfields run like there was no tomorrow. Our keeper, Bryan L, kept any problem at bay with wonderful saves.

After the first water break, we controlled the ball better and following a good attacking play, Justin M. scored, making it 1-0 for our Wolves. The first half ended with this score.

Unfortunately, there was an altercation between the opposing team and the referee during halftime. The ref expelled 2 of their players and later called the game off. Now it is up to the league to determine the result of this match.

At Westboro Wolves, we pride ourselves on playing the game with respect—for our teammates, our opponents, the referees, and the OCSL staff. We will fully cooperate with the league and support whatever decision they make regarding the match result.

Our next match will be against the Des Collines Cougars on our home field.

Forza Wolves!

Despite the shortened match, our Wolves continued to enjoy the camaraderie and team spirit that define this group.

Congratulations Q.V. for earning TOP 3 in OT5 goal scoring!

Justin M. and Kyle S. were our ‘Players of the Game‘. Congratulations, guys!

OT6

Head Strong!

By: Adam B., Team Player
Game played: Sunday, July 27th, 2025

Our OT6 Wolves’ latest match was a thrilling one as they squared-off against division rival, Red Star, in an unusual Sunday night contest.  Despite playing in unfamiliar territory, the team once again demonstrated the incredible resilience and dynamic teamwork they’ve shown all season.

Our Wolves got off to a fantastic start with an early goal from ‘Pistol’ Pete Stewart, who scored on a breakaway and celebrated his triumphant return to the lineup in style.  The Wolves then extended their lead when ‘Cool hand’ Kevin Beyer scored with a neat finish, threading the needle and precisely placing the ball into the corner goal through a crowd of unsuspecting players.

It became very clear that Red Star were not going to simply roll over and submit defeat after falling behind early, and they certainly battled back, tying the game at 2 goals apiece in the second half.  However, it was Liam ‘Game Winner’ Smithies, formerly known as ‘the Duke‘, who finally capitalized, after a series of missed opportunities, and put our Wolves ahead with an unstoppable strike!  This new nickname may be self-proclaimed but it’s certainly fitting when given the clutch goals he’s scored in recent weeks.

Despite the lead, the game was not over, and physical play continued, so much so that even veteran midfielder and resident enforcer, Tim ‘Tugger’ Ralph, was forced off the field, battle torn and bloodied on a 50-50 header which later resulted in 7-stitches to his brow! Despite this unfortunate cosmetic alteration, our Wolves held strong and secured a well-earned 3-2 victory at the final whistle.

Our Liam ‘Game Winner’ Smithies is TOP 5 in OT6 scoring!

Wolves Pounce on Low Flying Falcons!

By: Domenico P., Team Keeper
Game played: Friday, July 25th, 2025

The atmosphere before kickoff was tense. Perhaps it was the smaller pitch — forcing our Wolves to adapt to a high-paced, press-heavy style they weren’t used to — or the pressure of needing all three points to stay atop the division. Either way, the stakes were clear. Our Wolves huddled pre-match, strategizing how to manage the condensed field, made even more challenging by the absence of several key players. On a humid night, many would be called to play longer shifts than usual.

Our opponents, the unbeaten Ottawa Falcons Bohemians, had just as much riding on this game. A win would see them tied with the Wolves atop the standings. Both teams knew what was at stake. Would the Falcons soar, or could the Wolves pounce on a low-flying Falcon? Only 90 minutes would decide.

First Half: Defensive Grit and Early Domination

From the first whistle, the Falcons applied immediate pressure, especially targeting the Wolves weakened backline, missing their two regular central defenders. In stepped Gerry V, Marco B, and Paul T., tasked with holding the line. And they delivered!

Wolves keeper Dom P., who’s enjoyed a relatively calm season, found himself in the thick of it early on — but he rose to the challenge. Making several key saves, Dom earned his clean sheet the hard way. After the match, he admitted to being mentally drained from the non-stop action.

There was also a personal edge to this match for Celtic FC Ultras, Mark F. and Kevin W. The Falcons sported a kit eerily reminiscent of Rangers’ 2007/08 design — enough motivation to fire up any Celtic supporter. Mark F. bounced around the pitch like a teenager in a mosh pit, while Kevin W. stirred things up (maybe even more for his own captain Charles V. than the opposition). At one point, Kevin W. accidentally — or not? — flattened our defender, Tony Z., drawing a referee warning and plenty of sideline banter.

Pre-match, Dom P. had jokingly told Andrew S. to “do what Matthew C. does, but better” if he wanted to win Player of the Game and the coveted mug. While Andrew gave it his all, it was Matthew C. who rightfully earned the honour. with a relentless performance all game long (we’re thinking that having his son on the sideline was extra motivation).

Despite the early pressure, the Wolves’ defense gained confidence with each minute. Marco B. even cleared a ball with the back of his head, to the Falcons’ growing frustration. Our defender, Tom P. was instrumental in the build-up play, providing a smart assist before leaving the match with an injury. John M. continued his composed, confident play, sparking the move that led to the first goal. Tony Z., meanwhile, worked tirelessly while managing to avoid being steamrolled…again!

The Wolves went into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.

Second Half: Flying Saves and Flying Jeffersons

From the sidelines, an injured Frank M. — occupying three chairs to rest his leg and letting no one else near them — barked orders at Dom P. in Italian, urging him not to let up. He was right. Dom made several more crucial saves, including one airborne effort that led to a standout moment: after the match, Matthew C.’s son ran up to the keeper and said, ‘Mr. Goalkeeper, you flew through the air like Superman without a cape.‘ To which Dom replied, ‘Son, I know. Unlike Superman, I don’t need a cape.’

Dom earned another shut out, adding to his division lead!

The Wolves came out in the second half just as strong. An early fourth goal crushed the Falcons’ morale, though they did not stop trying to bring our Wolves down — quite literally in the case of our striker Jefferson “Airplane” D. Despite the best efforts to ground him, Jefferson soared with a hat-trick performance.

The final whistle blew with the Wolves up 6-0 — a comprehensive, statement-making win that put us clear at the top of the division.

Wolves’ veterans Alonso G. and Tony Z. (who’s sporting an official UNIVERSITARIO 2023 Campeón jersey compliments of his long-time teammate! Gracias Alonso.

Matthew C. once again put in a quiet yet complete performance, doing the hard work that often goes unnoticed. But not this time. Congratulations on your recognition and for always putting the team first!
