Extreme Heat Advisory Warning!

A heat wave descending on parts of Ontario this week and it brought dangerously high temperatures.
Environment Canada issued a heat warning that starting Monday for an area that spanned to Ottawa. In fact, that wave hit Ottawa a day sooner as Sunday’s scheduled early games were cancelled.
Temperatures in the Ottawa felt as hot as 45 C with the humidity. Regions further north are also forecast to see humidex values that could feel like the low to mid 40s. It was hot and humid and affected the air quality. Therefore, both our Wolves-MR2 and Wolves-Homa MR2 games were cancelled and will be rescheduled.

A LittleYippee-ki-yay!

By: Antonino Z., Team Manager
Game played: June 25, 2025

One word comes to mind in describing how we performed in this game ... WOW!
Another word is … IMPRESSIVE!
We asked several of you to play out of position and you all dug in and played with elegance and poise from the first whistle to the last. Thank you for that. Despite the lop-sided result, our opponents were a good team with a lot of skill.
Our ball movement, up field, was swift and accurate and we found the holes and delivered beautiful, precise through balls that found daylight. Our scorers were Carlo Zito who had a productive night with 4 goals, Kevin Periera, who potted a brace, Kian Yamada, and Anthony Casimiro, each with one goal. Again, a solid showing by all of our team. Be proud!
It was a bittersweet evening marking Kian’s last game with us. He embarks on his next European soccer adventure in England. We wish Kian much success and sincerely thank him for playing with our Wolf Pack once again this summer.

Our ‘Player of the Game‘ with an awe-inspiring 4 goal performance was Carlo Zito

A little post-game ‘yippee ki-yay‘ from our Wolves!

Wolves Albania Triumphs in Thrilling Match!

By: Q. V., Team Manager
Game played: June 24, 2025
This week, Albania faced off against the Gloucester Hornets in a gripping match. Despite their record, the Hornets proved to be a formidable opponent, pushing us to our limits and making it a challenging game.
In the end, our team’s skill and determination paid off, thanks in large part to the incredible performance of Leorent, who scored not one, but two goals, bringing his total to 13 and solidifying his position as the top scorer in the league. His impressive form continues to be a driving force behind our team’s success.
But it wasn’t just Leorent, and our POGs, Alex, and Hasim, who shone – the entire Albania team deserves credit for our victory. Every player brought their A-game, working together seamlessly to outmaneuver the Hornets and secure a well-deserved victory. We’re thrilled with the result and are already looking forward to the next challenge!

The ‘Players of the Game‘ were undoubtedly Alex George, who made some truly superb saves to keep us in the game, and Hasim, who dominated the midfield with his exceptional vision and skill, creating numerous scoring opportunities for our team. Both players were instrumental in securing the win, and their performances were outstanding!

Wolves Unstoppable: A Dominant Victory!

By: Gabe F., Team Manager
Game played: June 24, 2025
The Westboro Wolves continued their impressive form in Week 6, securing a resounding victory and a fantastic clean sheet over the Ottawa Falcons! It was a dominant performance from start to finish, showcasing our team’s strength across the pitch.
The breakthrough came just before halftime when we were awarded a penalty kick. Our Eyouma Ewelle coolly stepped up and slotted it home, giving us the crucial lead heading into the break.
We didn’t let up in the second half. Early on, Roland El-Khoury extended our advantage, finding the back of the net to make it 2-0. The goals kept coming as Jonathan Zitter unleashed a brilliant strike from far out, adding a third to our tally! To cap off an incredible performance, Nana Boadu earned a penalty kick and calmly converted it himself, closing out the game with a dominant scoreline!
Equally impressive was our defensive effort, leading to a well-deserved clean sheet for our goalkeeper, Matthew Hajjar. His command in goal and the solid work from our backline ensured our opponents had no answer.
FORZA Wolves!

For his outstanding performance and crucial saves throughout the match, Matthew is deservingly our ‘Player of the Game’ for Week 6!

Wolves HOMA MR4 Firing on All Cylinders!

By: Roozbeh H., Team Manager
Game played: June 25, 2025
On Tuesday, June 24th, the Westboro Wolves HOMA MR4 team traveled to face Carleton Place FC MR4 in a demanding match played under sweltering heat and high humidity, pushing both teams to their physical limits.
Despite the tough conditions, our Wolves HOMA came out firing from the first whistle. Their early pressure paid off midway through the first half when Heddar Badro found the back of the net, giving the Wolves HOMA a 1-0 lead. The extreme weather was evident on the players’ faces, with visible signs of fatigue and heavy breathing across the field.
After the break, Wolves HOMA maintained their attacking intensity, especially down the wings, and soon extended their lead to 2-0. However, Carleton Place FC responded with a goal of their own midway through the second half, momentarily shifting the momentum and reigniting hope for the home side.
In response, our Wolves HOMA made several tactical substitutions, injecting fresh energy into the game. The impact was immediate, as the team regained control and scored two more goals to seal a commanding victory.
This crucial away win not only earned our Wolves HOMA three valuable points but also helped strengthened their position in the OCSL’s MR4 Division standings.

Kasra Davatgar, our Wolves HOMA goalkeeper, was named ‘Player of the Game‘ for his heroic performance between the posts, delivering multiple outstanding saves that proved vital in securing this result.

Despite some isolated rough play, it was a clean match where both teams played respectfully. There was no ‘Player of the Game‘ for this match, just a promise to play better and more cohesively. Our next game will be against the White Eagles played on their home field.

Misfortune in the Final Third!

By: Adam B., Team Player
Game played: June 27, 2025
In our Wolves OT6 game Friday, June 27th, we played hard with a shortened bench and held on for a 0-0 draw on the turf in Kanata against the Spitfires.
We did have our chances but just lacked that extra bit of luck that was necessary on this night.
Our goalkeeper was a standout, as fill-in player Lorenzo Valenzuela held down the fort admirably, earning the shutout. Congratulations Lorenzo!

The Gods were Angry My Friend!

By: Domenico P., Team Keeper
Game played: June 27, 2025
The city was being hammered by rain and thunder in the afternoon and there was concern that perhaps our match would be cancelled. However, if the match were to be played, the question on everyone’s mind was, ‘how do we play in the rain when our most experienced player is away in Scotland?’
That’s right, the team was relying on Mark Freel’s expertise of playing in the rain. As Mark often says, in Scotland it rains everyday. In fact, the last recorded day of sunshine in Glasgow was September 13th,1979 and all the children joyously kicked off their rain boots (or wellies as they are referred to in Scotland) and ran barefoot onto the streets!
With the rain passing through, it was time to think football and to ensure that our Wolves remained top of the table. Our team manager, Charles Vincent, read-out the line-up (which of course did not include the Goalkeeper…I read the emails!) that would play against the West Ottawa Warriors and gave specific instructions to everyone, especially Moe Fakih…don’t let your passion get in the way of an important match! Moe would play a pivotal role in the match with his bursts of speed along with his bumping and grinding of the opposing team’s defenders…it was as if he was in the Club bustin’ moves to some techno tunes!

However, before kick-off, our midfielder, Frank Maiorino, in an effort to align himself with the Italians on our team, sauntered to the field wearing his favourite vintage Reggina training top much to the chagrin of Domenico Pecora and Mimmo Mafrici’s as they feared he would not be able to live-up to the responsibility of wearing those colours. It became evident as the match went on, those colours were weighing down on Frank and he won’t be wearing them again!
The match started and our Wolves immediately applied pressure onto the Warriors and within the first 10 minutes Jefferson Daughtery would strike the first dagger and two other goals would follow in first half with another goal in the second half, it was actually two goals in the second half, one was later called back after a delayed off-side call. Despite the protests, the referee would not change his mind. Despite that setback, our Wolves applied an avalanche of pressure throughout the game but our goal total remained at 4. Regardless, our Wolves earned an important three points and share the top spot in Masters OT4.
The match saw some great ball movement despite a wet field. The team is finally starting to gel as player movements off the ball were improving. Midfielder, Andrew Specogna was motivated to earn his own Hollywood Star following Matthew Crosier’s play the week before. Andrew came close to earning his star, but we needed more speed on the wing…he has vowed to train harder by chasing chickens! Our ‘Razzie Award‘ goes to our own Kevin Wirvin who attempted to draw a foul by dropping to the ground in anticipation of being hit…he didn’t get his card, but rather a warning…he’s vowed to learn ‘method acting’ over the next few weeks to ensure he gets those calls. Another potential Razzie should have gone to our Goalkeeper who couldn’t cleanly catch a ball that bounced off his oversized biceps and onto the foot of the Warriors’ striker. This shattered his quest of earning his 3rd shoutout after 4 matches…until next time.
Notable mentions for their disciplined defensive plays go to defenders, Tom Prowse and Tony Zito who forced the Warriors to go to the middle of the field only to be met with one of the strongest central defending group in the division with Roberto Smilovich, Mimmo Mafrici, and Marco Bernabo. Our vacationing defender, Gerry Valente has his work cut-out as we suspect his return from Italia will see him waddle rather than run as he works to shed some respite pounds.
A shout-out goes to Paul Turnau who has gone from waddling to running and did he ever run both up-and-down the pitch, but also from one-end to the other-end to attempt to score goals on corners. He’s returning to his physique just like back in high school! During our post-game, we celebrated with old and new friends on both teams plus our very own Ted Pilon’s birthday! Happy Birthday once again Ted!
The true spirit of the game.

The match would see Oscar Arrieta earn our ‘Player of the Game‘ belt and keepsake mug. This was rightly deserved for his goal contributions and assists to others. A team player whose selfless approach is
recognized by all.
