A Proud Moment!

By: Antonino Z., Club Manager
Game played: Monday, July 14th, 2025

This past week, I had the pleasure of watching two very skilled squads from our club in action. Our Wolves MR2 hosted our Wolves-Homa MR2 under the bright lights at Terry Fox field. While I was busy swatting away mosquitoes, I had the chance to witness two very skilled squads from our club in action — and I couldn’t have been more impressed. They moved the ball with confidence, precision, and real purpose. It was a proud moment as a Club Manager to witness how far these teams have developed. The growth, teamwork, and playing style speak volumes about their effort and commitment from both players and team managers. Let’s build on that momentum and let’s keep raising the bar.

Our ‘Player of the Game‘, Carter, was an absolute force on the pitch. His touches were clean and purposeful, and his defending was exceptional throughout the match. He brought composure, physicality, and leadership — a truly dominant presence from start to finish. Well deserved!

In our last game, our Wolves-Homa MR4 secured a win, finishing the first half of the season as undefeated champions.

In this match, Wolves-Homa hosted our other Westboro Wolves MR2 team and managed to take an early lead with a goal in the opening minutes. The first half featured competitive back-and-forth action, the Wolves-Homa’s players executed a well-rehearsed combination play that brought the ball just outside the penalty box. Our Amirhossein A. then scored a stunning, masterful goal, doubling the lead for himself and Wolves-Homa. The first half ended with a 2-0 scoreline.
In the second half, the young and energetic Westboro Wolves MR2 squad put intense pressure on our Wolves-Homa’s defense. Eager to gain points and improve their position in the standings, they launched various attacks and even struck the crossbar. However, thanks to the stellar performance of our Wolves-Homa’s defensive line and goalkeeper Kasra D., we managed to maintain a clean sheet and hold the lead.

The match ended 2-0, and our Wolves-Homa deservedly celebrated their mid-season championship victory on their home field.

Great start, so-so Finish!

In a nail-biting match against yet another Falcons team, our Wolves-Albania MR4 showcased exceptional skill, scoring three goals in the first half. Our striker, Leorent P., was the star of the show, netting all three goals and bringing his league-leading tally to 17. Our strong performance had us feeling confident, but the Falcons staged an great comeback in the second half, scoring three goals to tie this game.
Despite the thrilling action, the tie felt like a loss, as we had control of the game for much of the match. Nevertheless, we remain atop the league standings due to our impressive goal differential. With Leorent continuing to dominate the scoring charts – a full 10 goals ahead of the second-place scorer – we look to bounce back stronger next week and aim to regain our winning form to maintain our top spot in the league.

Top of the Table Clash Against Wolves-Homa!

By: Gabe F., Team Manager
Game played: Tuesday, July 15th, 2025

In a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash, our Westboro Wolves MR4 battled their way to a thrilling 3-3 draw against second-place Westboro Wolves-Homa MR4. This was a true derby match that lived up to all the hype, showcasing incredible fight and determination from both sides!
The Wolves-Homa got off to a quick start, scoring the first goal of the game. However, we found our equalizer when the Wolves-Homa conceded a penalty. Our Bren W. stepped up calmly and slotted it home, making it 1-1. Unfortunately, the Wolves-Homa managed to grab another goal just before halftime, sending us into the break down 2-1.
The second half saw a completely different Wolves team. We came out with immense strength, dominating possession and applying relentless pressure across the pitch for the entire 45 minutes. Our efforts quickly paid off when Alexandros M. found the back of the net early in the half, leveling the score at 2-2! The back-and-forth continued, and at the 22-minute mark, Wolves-Homa managed to pull ahead again, making it 3-2.
With time ticking away and seemingly all hope lost, our Wolves dug deep. In the dying moments, with just two minutes left in extra time, the incredible Roland E. delivered once again! He unleashed a fantastic strike from the top of the 18-yard box, sending the ball into the top corner past the keeper and snatching a dramatic equalizer! This game finished moments later, a hard-fought draw.

Our ‘Player of the Game‘ was Eyouma Ewelle for his incredible intensity and tireless effort throughout the entire game. What a performance, Wolves!

Thrilling Draw in the race for the Top Spot!

Our Wolves Homa played out an exciting 3–3 draw in Week 8 of the OCSL, in a game full of goals and momentum shifts.
Wolves Homa started the match strongly, controlling possession early on. However, against the run of play, they conceded the opening goal. Shortly after, Mohammad A. brought the game level with a stunning strike. Building on that momentum, a well-worked team move and a precise pass from Amir M. set up Amirhossein A., who smashed the ball home to give Wolves Homa a 2–1 lead going into halftime.
Early in the second half, Homa was caught off guard by a set piece and conceded the equalizer. They responded well and regained the lead when Mostafa T. delivered a pinpoint corner that Mohammad D. headed in beautifully to make it 3–2.
But in the dying minutes of the match, the opposition found the net with an unstoppable long-range shot, bringing the final score to 3–3 and denying our Wolves Homa a valuable three points.

A Back-and-Forth Affair!

Friday evening saw the Westboro Wolves OT5 take on the Ottawa Hellenic in a hard-fought match at Grenfell Glen Park. The game opened with Hellenic controlling much of the possession, while our Wolves worked to find their rhythm through quick counterattacks. Despite a slow start, our Wolves found themselves trailing 0–2 by the 15th minute.
This early setback served as a much-needed wake-up call. Our central midfield duo, Faisal I. and Jeff V., stepped up to bridge the gap between defense and attack, helping us regain composure and control in the midfield. Wingers and midfielders—Luca R., Mahdi H., Bujar H., Jamie H., Vincent W., and Q.V.—began to connect and create real chances for forwards Ada K. and Helio A..
Just before the first water break, Vincent W. capitalized on a cross and scored with a well-placed header inside the box, bringing us back within a goal. Shortly after the break, Helio A. found the equalizer, making it 2–2 and shifting the momentum in our favor heading into halftime.
The second half kicked off with chances at both ends. Our defensive line—Kevin M., Kyle S., Kush S., Drew P., Mahamadou F.S., and Salvador H.—settled into the match, linking well with goalkeeper Bryan L. and contributing to a more structured back line. The game remained evenly matched until the 75th minute, when Hellenic broke through on a fast counterattack to take the lead once again.
But our Wolves were not done yet. Just minutes later, Helio A. scored his second of the night, capping off a strong individual performance and bringing us level once more at 3–3. Despite a few promising attacks in the final minutes, the Wolves couldn’t find a winner.
A well-earned draw in a competitive and high-energy match. Our next match will be away against the Gloucester Eagles.
Forza Wolves! 🐺⚽

We bid farewell to a good friend and teammate, Yiber, seen here (third from the left) along with Salvador, Tony, and Q.V.. We will miss you our friend!

Our Best All-Around Game of this Season!!

By: Adam B., Team Player
Game played: Friday, July 18th, 2025
The Friday night lights were shining bright on the Wolves as they squared off against the division-leading White Eagles in the late game at our home field, Richmond Lions Park. This was a matchup that would prove to be a great test for our Wolves, and which had many of the faithful Wolves fans salivating for the kick-off!
From the beginning of the opening half, it was clear that the White Eagles’ strong possession game was going to be a difficult hurdle to overcome. But our Wolves kept pressing and we were relentless in our attack. This sustained pressure eventually led to a breakthrough when veteran midfielder and renowned club-goer, Nick A., pulled out his ’56-degree foot wedge’ and chipped a nice shot just over the goalkeeper’s reach into the back of the net!
Despite the early lead, the Wolves were persistent and did not underestimate the opposition at any point. All were very well aware of the scoring accolades which the White Eagles brought with them into this match!
A bit of luck fell in the Wolves favour, alongside an exceptionally strong play from goalkeeper, Francis ‘the Cat’ B., as he brilliantly turned aside a White Eagle penalty kick, mid-way through the first half. This was definitely viewed as a game-changing save that inspired the entire team and gave them the confidence to keep the pedal to the floor until the very end!
Not once relinquishing the lead, our Wolves were able to finish strong and walk off with a victory at the game’s final whistle. Also scoring for the Wolves on the night was Hakim ‘the Dream’ T., Adam ‘the Hammer’ B., and Liam ‘the Duke’ S..
This was definitely a strong game for the team and what many considered to be their best all-around performance so far on the season!

And it was certainly worth celebrating with a few of locally renowned smoker, Lee “Smokey” Ralph’s, Montreal-style Smoked meat sandwiches!!!

TIK – TAK – GOAL!

Game played: Friday, July 18th, 2025
It was a perfect Friday evening to play the beautiful game, and what unfolded on the pitch was just that—a beautiful match. Not merely for the scoreline, but for the quality of play that finally showcased the Wolves’ true potential.
With the Wolves missing a few players, Dino D. flew in from Florida to bolster the squad for this crucial clash against second-place OSU Old Crocs. He would jet back soon after, presumably in search of Florida’s familiar heat and humidity—but not before making a significant impact.
The whistle blew, and our Wolves wasted no time asserting themselves. Within minutes, they had already fired a few shots on or just wide of goal. Then, in the 5th minute, a crisp sequence beginning with a defensive turnover led to a smooth buildup through midfield. The ball found its way to the outside forward, whose pinpoint cross was coolly tapped in by Dino. A classic team goal—and Dino’s only strike of the evening, though he nearly had another. A tempting cross found him once more, and all he needed was a slight nod to the left. But his slicked-back hair betrayed him, and the ball skimmed past harmlessly. Style points, if not goal points.
By halftime, the Wolves had built a commanding 3-0 lead with two more well-worked goals.
Meanwhile, Mark F. was clearly still feeling the effects of his recent culinary tour of Scotland and the British Isles. Laden with a few extra pounds—thank you, haggis and Orkney—his attempts to dance around defenders were often thwarted by physics. He did manage to hit the post a couple of times, matching Marco B., who seemed equally determined to rattle the woodwork.
Our defensive unit, however, was rock-solid, showing great discipline throughout breaking up plays, blocking shots, and protecting the lead with grit.
Just when it seemed like our Wolves Keeper, Dom P., might spend the entire match as a spectator, he produced one of the saves of the season—a stunning kick save to preserve the clean sheet. Perhaps he’s more than just a handsome presence between the posts after all!
The final whistle sealed a 5-0 victory and the Wolves’ fifth clean sheet of the season—a testament to strong defending and a unified team effort.
Off the pitch, the stories kept coming. We learned that Charles V. has ordered a special edition SC Cambuur jersey commemorating Canada’s liberation of the Netherlands in WWII—planning to wear it proudly (and hit the gym in the meantime to ensure it fits just right). Speaking of liberation, Paul T., who missed the game to attend a Green Day concert (and was hilariously caught on the ‘couples cam’ with his wife), has a liberation story of his own. Many years ago, he ‘liberated’ a Dutch girl—now his wife of over 20 years. Talk about being ahead of the curve!

Following the final whistle, the Wolves didn’t just celebrate the clean sheet and commanding victory—they did it in style. The post-match gathering featured a delightful spread of European beverages and food, compliments of Dom. P.. It was the perfect reward after 90 minutes of hard running and teamwork. It wasn’t just about replenishing energy—it was about toasting another strong performance, shared among teammates who continue to grow stronger together both on and off the pitch.

Props to our keepers, Dom and Charles for a combined 5th clean sheet in 7 games.

A standout moment came from John M., who, despite enduring repeated verbal harassment from an opposing player, remained composed and let his play do the talking. His calm, controlled performance earned him a well-deserved ‘Player of the Game’ nod. Sometimes, silence really is the best response.
